Each summer through the generosity of the C. Wallace Stuard, Jr. Sailing Foundation, Cape May Cares is awarded ten scholarships for two weeks of junior sailing camp at the beautiful Corinthian Yacht Club of Cape May (CYCCM). Under the instruction of longtime CYCCM senior instructor Brad Lord, the children harness solid beginner sailing skills while learning the responsibilities of team work with other students from different areas of the country. Equally important for the children’s education is the opportunity to “get out from indoors” and experience the natural beauty of the Cape May harbor, the freedom of being out on the water, and just the plain fun of hanging out at the yacht club. Many of our scholarship recipients love the sailing experience so much that they return for a second or third year of camp and learn to help the younger sailors along the way.
